As
a resident, your work as a primary care provider is supported and supervised
by experienced full-time faculty, part-time clinical faculty and visiting
preceptors. Our 12 full-time faculty (7 MD's, 1 MD-PhD, 3 DO's and 1 PhD
psychologist) have a wide range of expertise including preventive medicine,
sports medicine, obstetrics, geriatrics,
procedural skills (colposcopy, vasectomy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, minor
surgery, etc.) family therapy, addiction medicine, family violence,
(sexual and physical abuse), osteopathic medicine, and research. Clinical
faculty and part-time faculty provide additional teaching and expertise.
Visiting preceptors offer an added dimension of experience and knowledge
gained from the actual practice of family medicine in rural areas.
EMMC Family Medicine Resident Physicians work in a collaborative team which also includes Family Nurse Practitioners, Certified Nurse Midwives, Practice Manager, Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Medical Assistants.

Medicine Residency Program is a fully accredited, 27
resident program, with a training emphasis that prepares its graduates
to practice in rural settings.
